WIth the weather conditions being nothing short of atrocious Emlyn were delighted to come away from Llandovery on Saturday with a share of the spoils in a tense affair dominated by the weather and some excellent defending by both teams.
Playing with the elements in the first half Llandovery led 6-0 at half time courtesy of two penalty goals. The second half was all Emlyn as the red and whites threw everything they could at the home side in an effort to score a try. The ball however was like a bar of soap and made handling almost impossible.
The smaller Emlyn pack acquitted themsleves very well against a much bigger Llandovery eight with the front row of youngsters Dafydd Davies, Aled Jones and veteran capatain Barry Evans turning in fine performances. The overall play of Davies in the tight and loose along with back rower Gareth Stevenson were huge pluses for Emlyn. Outside half Crwys Rees also turned in a very accomplished performance with his kicking out of hand being first class and it was fitting that Emlyn's points came from two penalties form the boot of Rees.
Emlyn now look forward to the away trip to Bridgend Athletic in a fortnight when they will be looking to overturn the suprise defeat they suffered at home at the begining of the season.
