Youth come second to Kidwelly

KIDWELLY  YOUTH 29 CN EMLYN YOUTH 11

Emlyn’s young squad showed 7 changes to last weeks starting line-up and a number of younger squad members were blooded in this encounter.

The Emlyn camp and particularly their front row members were disappointed that the home team elected for uncontested scrums.

The game was played in fine sunshine and the Emlyn team demonstrated commitment defending during early exchanges.  They attempted a number of counter attack movements with wing Olly Butterworth prominent during their best attacking moments.

Kidwelly were however a well drilled side and on the day were just a bit too strong for the younger spirited Emlyn outfit.

Emlyn were to lose flanker Ifan LLOYD following a dangerous spear tackle which resulted in him sustaining a fractured collar bone. He was later treated and diagnosed at Glangwili Hospital before joining his team mates for the evening festivities.

During the match Kidwelly played well and with their backs and forwards exchanging passes scored a number of fine scores.

The Emlyn side played with a smile on their faces and never gave up; the effort they gave cannot be faulted.

With valuable lessons learnt the squad will re-assemble in training this week and will bolster their numbers with the increased availability of players. The team will now look forward to next Saturday’s home league match to be played at Dol-Wiber v Felinfoel.

Emlyn’s scores were credited to their Flanker and man of the match Sam Forerster-Evans (Try) and Crwys Rees with 2 Penalties.
